SHOP FABRICS

What is a Batik? Batik is a method of dying fabrics and sometimes paper in which some areas are covered with wax, glues, or specially made products to prevent the dyes from penetrating the fabric. Typically wax is hand painted or stamped using,Tjaps made of copper creating a wax pattern that resists the dyes. Dyes are applied and allowed to dry . The wax is then removed and the area under the wax keeps its original colour with an occasional line of dye colour bleeding  through where the wax cracked  while allowing the dye to colour the fabric.
